Over the years, our school has made a number of placements at the excellent facilities at Fir Tree Fishery for our students to take part in the Angling Skills and Coaching provision. Martin and his team are always ready to go the extra mile, in providing engaging activities and support, to promote fantastic outcomes for our students, who have complex social and emotional issues.
- Cathy Briggs - Head Teacher at Learn 4 Life School
The tutors at Fir Tree Fishery provide regular reports on the progress of learners in terms of their academic achievement and their attitudes to learning. This ensures that at Oakfield we are kept fully informed about the progress of learners. The service that we have received from the team at Fir Tree Fishery has been outstanding and we hope to continue working with them for years to come.
- Jo Nulty - Assistant Head Teacher at Oakfield High School & College
Through the guidance of his tutor he developed good working relationships with the other learners in the group and was self-motivated to keep on task. Fir Tree Fishery are professional and caring, they offer a wide range of opportunities and made an impact on a student who had lost his way. Thank you to Martin and the team.
- Ruth Harrison - Careers Coordinator at Lowton CE High School
I have been working directly with Fir Tree Fishery CIC for over 6 years and in this time have seen the organisation grow into one of the leading alternative education providers in Wigan. As a recognised post 16 ESFA provider for young people with SEND, they have developed robust systems and have experienced and competent staff that are able to provide the best possible education experience for young people who require additional support requirements. Furthermore, this allows them to then successfully manage the transition for many young people leaving school as they can progress onto their post 16 Traineeship, Study Programme and Preparing for Adulthood programmes with Fir Tree Fishery CIC.
